Editorial policy

Everyday World Journal aims to make thoughtful, readable work about ordinary objects and customs. We value clear explanations, careful distinctions and a lively eye for detail over certainty that the material cannot support.

Accuracy and context

Writers should check factual statements against suitable sources and make the basis for interpretations clear. When an account varies across places or communities, we describe that variation rather than flattening it into a universal rule. We do not invent quotations, experiences or evidence.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for their relevance and interest to readers. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view or a particular conclusion. We keep the distinction between editorial work and promotional material visible.

Corrections

If a reader spots a factual error or a passage that needs important context, they can contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We review correction requests and update published work when a change is warranted, making significant corrections clear to readers.

Partnerships and illustrations

Paid partnerships and other material created with a partner are labelled in plain language so readers can recognise their nature. Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence; when used, they are identified as AI-generated and are not presented as documentary photographs.
